Pink Ribbon Society of
Mayes County presented
their first annual
Pink Ribbon Luncheon on
October 6, 2005 at the First
United Methodist Church, Pryor, for the benefit of Tulsa Project Women.
Our
theme – Keep The Hope Burning Bright!
The luncheon was quite a success with over 75 sold luncheon tickets.
The Pink Ribbon Society also hosted the
golf tournament, sponsored by the
Norit Americas, on
October 7, 2005. Both combined
events totaled over $8,000 for Tulsa Project Woman.
The
luncheon was sponsored by: Integris,
Pryor Daily Times, Buzzi Unicem,
The
decorations were beautiful with the colors of black & white with pink
accents and flower arrangements by Teddie Rae.
The food, catered by The American Grille, was delicious:
salad, succulent roast beef, whipped potatoes with gravy, streamed
vegetables, and homemade dinner roll. The
pink ribbon cake was prepared by Jessica Martin from Northeast Tech Center,
Culinary Arts Class. Our
celebrity waiters added flair to the whole occasion.
Thank you to Bobby Smith, Ben Sherrer, Lucky Lamons, Frank Cantey, Don Hess,
Dennis Bowman, Craig Hendrickson, and Bobby Smith. Special thanks to Derek
Voth our Matre D’ and Veronica Sanderlin, our Hostess.
The money
we helped raise went to Tulsa Project Woman, Inc who provides breast health
education, no cost mammography, and diagnostic and surgical services for
women with no health insurance and limited financial resources.
During 2004 Tulsa Project Woman assisted 1,676 Oklahomans in 39
counties with mammograms and breast health services.
It is a wonderful to know the money we helped raise stays here in our
local area.
Thank you for all of the gifts donated, and golf hole sponsors, our hometown business support and the Methodist Church for donating their facility at no cost to the Mayes County Society.
The Pink Ribbon Society Members are: Margo Sherrer, Amy Johns, Ellen Hemlich, Lorri Mitchell, Kay Keith, Hope White, Lois Werkman, LuAnn Sanderlin, Donna Bowman, Pamela Shipman, Pam Buffington, and Gina Alvis Watts
